Three generations of poll workers
(WMBF) Three generations of a South Carolina family continue to serve as voting volunteers at a polling place in Horry County.
Gerald Ballen has served as a poll worker in every election for the past 30 years.
"Long, long ago my mom used to be the clerk at this precinct. So I started off helping her and I just never left," said Ballen.
His wife, daughter, son and longtime friend, Betty Chestnut, volunteer with him.
He says seeing people flow into the polls puts a smile on his face.
