Next week is National Child Passenger Safety Week.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office will be partnering with AAA - The Auto Club Group, Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Tennessee Highway Safety Office to educate parents and caregivers about the importance of properly using car seats.

Motor vehicle crashes are the number one killer of children ages one to 13, and 82 percent of Tennessee Children are not properly restrained in cars, the sheriff's office explained.

“Using car seats that are age and size-appropriate is the best way to keep your child safe,” noted Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond. “Cars seats matter and having the right car seat installed and used correctly is critical,” he further noted.

Next Tuesday, certified technicians will check your child's car seat or install it for free from noon to 2:00 pm at the Walgreens on North Market Street.
