Facebook came to Dalton Monday to promote small businesses. It's a part of the social media giant's initiative to train one million people and small business owners across the country by 2020.

Facebook says they want to empower people with the tools and resources they need to build up their businesses.

A Facebook representative said there are over 80 million small businesses that use the platform to market themselves.

The program manager said dalton's small business industry made the city an ideal stop on their tour.

"So I think Dalton is known for its larger manufacturing companies, but I think a little hidden gem about Dalton is that it's got a really booming small business industry. And so, Dalton was an ideal stopping point for Facebook," Laura Napoliello, a program manager, said.

Dalton was one of their very first stops. They have five more stops in other cities to visit by the end of the year.
