5K honors those who lost their lives in the towing industry
The Tennessee Valley came together Sunday to honor those who have lost their lives in the towing industry.
The inaugural Run for the Fund 5K started and ended at the International Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum on Broad Street.
The run supports the museum's Survivor Fund.
"We were thrilled and excited to host this year's inaugural 5K Run For The Fund, which supports our Survivor Fund for families who experience the tragedy of losing a loved one in the line of duty," Thomas Tedford, who is the International Towing & Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum Treasurer, said.
Organizers said the towing industry loses around 60 operators and roadside service professionals per year.
Tedford said the event raised over $10,000, and they look forward to building on that next year.
