The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Gordon County.

Just after midnight Sunday, a Gordon County sheriff's deputy tried to pull a vehicle over. The driver, Santiago Alberto Franco Marquez, 35, of Calhoun, took off and led deputies, Georgia State Patrol troopers and Calhoun police officers on a chase for around 15 minutes.

"A Georgia State Patrol Trooper attempted a box maneuver when Marquez struck the Trooper’s vehicle and also made impact with the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle at the intersection of Harris Beamer Road and LaVista Drive in Gordon County," a GBI spokesperson said.

The trooper got out of his vehicle, but Marquez continued to hit it. The trooper fired a single shot into the driver's side window of Marquez's vehicle.

Marquez then got out of the vehicle on the passenger's side and took off on foot. He was taken into custody about 100 yards away after he was tased by deputies.

Marquez was taken to a hospital for treatment for a hand injury. He has since been released to deputies.

Marquez is charged with aggravated assault on an officer, attempting to elude and other traffic violations.

No law enforcement officers were injured.
