Humid with spotty Storms, and we're all watching Florence
Good Thursday. We will once again be hot and muggy with highs in the upper 80s. Look for more spotty showers and storms this afternoon into early evening, tapering late tonight.
Friday we can take rain out of the forecast, but it will be hot and humid with temps in the low 90s.
Saturday we may get a few scattered showers late in the day with mostly cloudy skies and highs a bit lower in the mid 80s.
The remnants of Florence will pass by close to us Sunday, but most of the rain associated with the storm will be north and east of us. I will put the chance for rain at 30% for Sunday with cloudy skies and highs in the low 80s.
Monday the low that was Florence will move north, and we could get a shower or two on the back side of the low, but the rain chance is only 20%. Highs Monday will be in the mid 80s.
We may be a LITTLE breezy Saturday and Sunday, but we're talking 10-15 mph winds which are very manageable. I am ramping down the rainfall amounts Sunday into Monday for us with most folks getting less than an inch of rain.
Hurricane Florence is already being felt along the coast of North Carolina as winds are increasing and bands of rain are beginning to move on shore. The center of the storm will move onshore tonight or early Friday morning. 20" to 30" of rain are possible along the coast with 10" to 20" possible inland in North Carolina. Storm surge heights will be about 9'-13' above normal tide heights which will combine with the rainfall to produce devastating flooding over the next few days.
