Two boaters were seriously injured on the Tennessee River Saturday night.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said the two people were injured when their 18-foot boat struck a large oak tree that had fallen into the water.

The boaters, identified as Windall Sanders and Kimberly Sanders, were traveling northbound near the river bank around mile marker 139 when the incident happened.

Both individuals were life-flighted to Vanderbilt Hospital.

The accident is under investigation, the TWRA added.
