Tennessee's tentative depth chart released on Monday gives us some insight into who we'll see on the field at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Saturday.

Jarrett Guarantano and Keller Chryst were listed as co-starters at quarterback (with the word "OR" between their names).

"I think with all the positions we have, we still have competition," Pruitt said. "The best teams that I've been a part of, there's lots of times the guys that may start the first game, don't start the fifth game or the eighth game and there's been lots of guys that didn't even play in the first game that might've been the MVP of the last game."

"Football is a developmental game, you've got guys that have been in the program longer than others that have a little better understanding of what we're trying to get done. You've got guys that may have more ability that don't hardly understand just yet, that happens everywhere. As they get more opportunities, they'll get a chance and when they get a chance they have to make the most of it. Probably with every position, it's really fluid."

The tentative depth chart included co-starters at ten positions including running back and punter. The projected two-deep features nine freshmen, including four listed as co-starters (Alontae Taylor and Bryce Thompson at cornerback, Paxton Brooks at punter and Jerome Carvin at right guard).

"We try to play the best players. If you play the best players, sometimes it is freshmen and by us playing them, it shows we do have confidence in their ability to play," Pruitt said. " They're going to make mistakes; everybody is going to make mistakes, but the key of the drill is to play the next play, keeping poise, playing with confidence and believing on what you're trying to get done. I think the guys we put on the field Saturday will play that way."
