New numbers show fewer kids are playing high school football in the U.S.
Numbers show participation in high school sports is up, but not as many kids are playing football in their high school years.
According to a new study, the number of high school kids playing organized sports increased to almost 8,000,000 last year. But, the number of kids going out for the football team is going down.
Between this season and last, 568 fewer kids played football in Tennessee.
Experts attribute the decline to avoiding injury, kids are picking other sports or they burned out.
