Drivers should expect delays on I-24 West this weekend.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation said crews will be making concrete repairs on I-24 West in the right lane near mile marker 179. The work area will extend past Exit 178 Market Street to the Williams Street on-ramp.

Be aware that it is possible repairs could also be done on the left side of the Williams Street on-ramp to I-24 West.

Repairs are set to begin at 8:00 pm Friday night and last until no later than 6:00 am Monday morning.

While work is being done, the left lane of I-24 West near mile marker 179 will be closed. The Williams Street on-ramp may be narrowed as well.

"One lane will remain open on I-24 and traffic will be able to access I-24 West from Williams Street, but there will be a major traffic impact in this area," a TDOT spokesperson said.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area where the work is being done. Anyone who decides to drive in the construction area should expect long delays.
