A Tennessee Police Department is warning the public about a phishing scam.

The City of Dickson Police Department said the scam is being sent out in the form of a text message from an unknown number.

The messages says, "Someone complimented you! See more on IRL." There are also links in the message that will take you to the App Store or Google PlayStore to download an app. The police department explained that the app might upload spyware onto your device.

Channel 3 reached out to the Chattanooga Police Department to see if anyone had reported this scam. Public Information Officer Rob Simmons said they have not. Simmons explained that you can report cybercrime to the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team because it is investigated on the federal level.
