UPDATE: Bomb threat "all clear" at Hixson church, students safe
UPDATE: The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office has given the "all clear" on the bomb threat at Dallas Bay Baptist Church Tuesday evening.
HCSO spokesman Matt Lea says all students have been accounted for and are with their parents.
Tuesday evening, the school thanked first responders and the community for helping them during the threat.
“Thank you to everyone who acted swiftly and calmly as we evacuated and transported our students and staff today at Dallas Bay Preschool and Academy. We experienced the strength and kindness of our community. Special thanks to our local Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Chattanooga Police, and the Dallas Bay Fire Department for your quick response. Also a big thank you to Food City for your donation of water and snacks, Jerry and Debbie Green for your prompt response in transporting our students, to our parents for patiently waiting for dismissal, and any others who responded on our behalf.”
ORIGINAL STORY: The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office and Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department are evacuating classes at a Hixson church due to a bomb threat on Tuesday.
It's happening at Dallas Bay Baptist Church School in the 8300 block of Daisy Dallas Road.
Sheriff's office spokesman Matt Lea says, "As a precaution, all staff and children have been evacuated from the building and are safe. They have been moved to a secure location off-site near the school."
Lea says parents of children who attend the school should call Dawn Noles at 423-605-3512 for more information "about the staging location and possible pickup instructions."
All roads leading up to the church are closed as a result.
