UPDATE: East Ridge police arrested a man accused of a shooting on South Seminole Drive Friday morning.

The shooting happened around 5:00 a.m. in the 1100 block.

Police say 19-year-old Collin Macheel shot the victim, Brandon Chase, several times.

The details of what led to the shooting are under investigation.

Chase was treated at a local hospital and eventually released.

Macheel is charged with aggravated assault and remains in the Hamilton County Jail.

His court date is scheduled for August 13.

PREVIOUS STORY: Police are investigating a shooting that happened inside a home on South Seminole Drive.

It happened around 5:00 am Friday morning.

Police said a person was shot multiple times in the stomach and leg. That person was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.
There were other people in the home when it happened, but we don’t know how many.

According to the police chief one person is being questioned as a suspect and investigators are speaking with everyone who was in the home.

The suspect and victim are acquaintances, according to police.

Police reports also show the call Friday morning is the second time officers responded to a shots fired call at the S. Seminole Drive home in the last year. The first shots fired call happened in March 2018.

According to the report, a man living in the home told police someone in a car drove by and fired shots at him while he was leaving the home.

No arrest was ever made in that case.
