UPDATE: The building permit for Chattanooga’s Cheesecake Factory has been approved.

Work on the location outside Hamilton Place Mall is set to begin Sunday, according to the permit. The project is expected to be completed by July 1, 2019.

The restaurant will be built on just over an acre in the mall parking lot. Construction crews will have to remove and reinstall parking around the building.

The job is estimated at $75,000.

The Cheesecake Factory has filed for a land disturbing permit for work at a Hamilton Place mall.

If the plan is accepted this will be the California-based company's first restaurant in Chattanooga; the nearest location being in Knoxville. There are two other in the Nashville area.

According to the permit obtained by WRCB, the company applied for the construction permit last Friday.

The permit puts the location for the new restaurant on the Sears side of the mall.

In the project description, the permit cited that the parking infrastructure on that side of the mall need to be removed and re-installed as the restaurant is being built.

If approved by Chattanooga's Land Development Office construction could be started as early as next month and would be estimated to be completed by July of next year.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
