The high school football season brings a number of mixed emotions: excitement, fear, adrenaline, etc. But for head coach Ralph Potter, the new McCallie football season brings a little bit of a headache.

After making it to the Div.II-AA state quarterfinal last season, the Blue Tornado graduated a talented senior class. Now McCallie will have to rely heavily on its underclassmen this season. Coach Potter says this is the youngest team he's ever had, and may start as many as six sophomores this year.

The quarterback spot is down to two contenders, junior Chris Bowman, and sophomore DeAngelo hardy.

"Well it's a headache, but the headaches are what makes it fun" says Coach Potter. "As long as the kids are working and trying to get better. Sometimes a young team is more fun to coach than a veteran team because they feel a little less pressure and don't know any better. They just work hard and do the best they can."

McCallie opens the season August 18th against CCS.
