UPDATE: Police have captured  the suspect in a Friday shooting on Dodds Avenue. Police and SWAT teams surrounded a home on Carousel Road, which was connected to the shooting.

Police say the standoff lasted for about two hours.The suspect, 22-year-old Jamichael Eddins, is in police custody. 

The victim told police that he had been buying marijuana from Eddins for the past six months. The victim told police that he planned on stealing the marijuana from Eddins because Eddins had been shorting him on marijuana in previous drug transactions. The victim told police that he knew Eddins carried a pistol. When the victim entered Eddins vehicle, he stole the marijuana from the car, exited the vehicle and ran back to his house. While running back the victim heard 2-3 gunshots and was struck in the right hip. 

An undercover police officer happened to be driving by and witnessed the shooting. The undercover officer identified Eddins as the person chasing after the victim.

The suspect, Eddins has since been booked at the Hamilton County Jail on charges of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and Employment of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony.

PREVIOUS STORY: Currently, Chattanooga police are on the scene where a person was reportedly shot.

Officers were called to 709 Dodds Avenue just before noon on reports of a person shot. The address is located near a daycare. A bullet did strike the building, but no one was injured.

An ambulance and additional officers with East Ridge Police Department were also dispatched to the scene.
