A Chattanooga man is facing charges for stealing, and threatening a law enforcement officer.

The Chattanooga Police Department responded to reports of a theft at the Walmart Neighborhood Market Sunday night.

At the scene, a loss prevention employee notified police that she saw a black male with a grey beard, loading a car with 15 cases of beer, before fleeing the scene.

The woman informed police that the beer totaled to about $220.

Police located 51-year-old Marcellus Mills a short time later, on the 2400 block of Taylor St.

Mills was taken into custody, at which time he began verbally threatening the arresting officer.

Officials transported Mills to the Hamilton County Jail, where he was charged for theft under $500, and retaliation against a judge, juror, or law enforcement officer.

Mills was booked on $5,000 bond.
