UPDATE: Police are looking for 4 suspects who were caught on camera burglarizing a North Georgia store, early Monday.

It happened Monday around 4:30 a.m. at Harrys Convenience Store of off State Highway 201 in Varnell, Ga. Police say the masked men were only in the store for about 5 minutes, but they did a lot of damage.
Store surveillance cameras shows the thieves beating on the cash register with a sledge hammer and one suspect even crawling on the ground talking on his cell phone. They got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Multiple camera angles show all 4 masked burglars breaking in through the front door, one by one. Cameras show them crawling on on the ground and scooting on their backs and stomachs toward the cash register, where they used a sledge hammer to break in.

"They were determined to get into the cash register," said Chief Lyle Grant, Varnell Police Dept.

Police Chief Lyle Grant says the group caused significant damage. The store owner estimates at least 7 thousand dollars in damage alone and they're still counting their losses.

"Yes it was well thought out, they had been there before," said Chief Grant. " They knew what they were looking for."

After 5 minutes inside, police say the thieves grabbed the owner's safe and headed for the door. Investigators say it appears that one of them was talking on his cell phone, possibly to the get away driver.

Chief Grant tells Channel 3,  two suspicious cars were seen in the area at the time of the burglary. Those cars are described as being a small white and small black vehicle.

Investigators now believe more suspects are involved. Police Chief Lyle Grant says it's been at least 2 years since he's had a burglary case like this one. and he believes the suspects may be linked to other cases in the county.

"We take it personal, it's like breaking into one of our friends houses or businesses," said Chief Grant. " We're going to do everything we can to catch them."

The suspects are believed to be in their mid 20s, police say they could be local or from out of town. If you have any information that can help investigators call Varnell Police at (706) 694-3141 or the Whitfield County Sheriff's Department at (706) 278-1233.

The owner tells Channel 3,  he's glad the store was closed at the time the thieves broke in and glad no one was hurt.
