McMinn County added another win to their all-time record against McMinn Central Friday night after the Cherokees rolled past Chargers 41-6 to open the season.

Cherokees made a long, first drive to start the game that ended with a rushing touchdown by senior Julion Santos for the first points of the game. McMinn County would score two more touchdowns in the first half to make it 20-0 at halftime. 

At the start of the third, Santos made another big run into the endzone to widen the lead. Santos would go on to have seven carries for 35 yards and three touchdowns on the night. 

With less than two minutes to go, McMinn Central was able to make their first charge into the endzone to hold off the shutout. Cherokees would go on to win it 41-6 over the Chargers to start the 2016 season. McMinn County now leads the all-time record 37-7 against McMinn Central.
