Summer is the time to indulge in ice cream, and when you do get a scoop, it should be good. And if it’s local? Even better.

The Olive Bean is a Signal Mountain, family-owned natural grocery store and café. This means everything served there is GMO and pesticide-free. They have traditional plates and sandwiches, but you can also expand your palette a bit with an avocado sandwich.

They’ve built a replica 1920s ice cream parlor, that’s not only for sweet treats like a coffee milkshake, but to help bring families together.

Shannon at the Olive Bean, says, “not only are we the only ice cream place up here, we’re building memories for families.”

Supporting a local store is significant. For every 100 dollars spent at a local business, almost 70 percent of that money stays in the local economy.

The Olive Bean is a true community center trying to build a better, stronger Signal Mountain.

Channel 3 is asking our viewers to submit people and places they would like to see highlighted in our newscasts. It’s simple, we want to know about good people in good places, doing good things.
