UPDATE: A man has died from injuries he received in a crash on Shallowford Road while searching for a missing relative. 

On Thursday, June 2nd, Chattanooga Police responded to the 4000 block of Shallowford Road on the report of a motor vehicle crash. Police located the crash which involved two vehicles. 

Chattanooga Police Traffic Investigators determined that the driver, Derrick Bush, 34, lost control of his vehicle while traveling east on Shallowford Road at the Moore Road intersection. 

Bush's vehicle entered oncoming westbound traffic and was struck by a westbound vehicle. The driver of the westbound vehicle was uninjured. 

Tuesday, Chattanooga Police Traffic Investigators were notified by the Hamilton County Medical Examiner's off that Derrick Bush succumbed to his injuries he received from the accident that occurred on June 2nd. 

Hamilton County EMS responded and transported Bush to a local hospital. He suffered from life threatening injuries.

PREVIOUS STORY: A man is in critical condition tonight after crashing on Shallowford Road while searching for a missing relative.

It happened in the 4200 block near Wilcox Boulevard.

Police say a man was coming to help a search party formed for 33-year-old Justin Trimble when he collided with another vehicle.

The man, whose name has not been released, is in critical condition, according to police. No one was injured in the other vehicle.

Our crew on the scene says hundreds have gathered in the area to search for Justin Trimble who's been missing since May 28.

Trimble's family tells Channel 3, the driver in critical condition is also related to Trimble.

Police say Shallowford Road at Wilcox Boulevard is closed and urge you to use an alternate route.
