UPDATE: Angel Sherrard says it was the nephew of her friend who was shot on 10th Avenue tonight.

She says he was coming home from work.

“When she came out to say I love you there was someone standing there and they shot her nephew,” says Sherrard.

Sherrard says after she heard multiple shots before she saw a man with a shotgun get into a car and drive off.

Sherrard says she immediately went to comfort the wounded teen.

“Get a towel. I didn't think it was a good idea to lay him down. I just asked him: "Are you ok? Can you breathe? Do you have air?” recalls Sherrard.

She stayed with him until help arrived Sherrard says she can't believe someone would do this. She says he is a good person.

“He’s not in the streets hanging out doing whatever. He’s trying to do something,” says Sherrard.

Sherrard has questions for the shooter.

“It’s horrible when people just walk up to you and just shoot you,” says Sherrard.

Chattanooga Police say they continue to follow leads.

Chattanooga police are investigating a shooting on 10th Avenue tonight.

It happened shortly before 7:00 p.m. in the 4200 block.

Police tell Channel 3, the victim is a juvenile. He was taken to a local hospital for serious injuries.

Witnesses say he was walking home from work when he was shot.

Police say they have a person of interest but have not released a motive.
