A Rottweiler got some SEC flavor after a terrible accident.

Ziva Everett, a five-year-old Rottweiler from Chattanooga, had a tragic accident during a family hiking trip earlier this year. Ziva and her sister, Isabella, fell off a 100-foot cliff. Isabella was perfectly fine, but Ziva was not as lucky.

She suffered two broken legs, her parents took her to the University of Tennessee Knoxville Teaching Hospital for emergency surgery. After her first surgery, the Everett's took Ziva to veterinary provider, Dr. Tyler Pilkington. Dr. Pilkington is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and has been practicing for over 10 years at Animal Clinic Inc. of Chattanooga. Dr. Pilkington was not hopeful Ziva would fully recover.

“Ziva suffered two fractures, one in each front leg,” said Dr. Pilkington. “She also suffered a
nerve injury in the right front leg.”

The Animal Clinic Inc. wanted to do something special for Ziva while treating their special patient. The Everett's are Alabama Crimson Tide fanatics, the Animal Clinic Inc. staff surprised the family by dressing Ziva's bandages in Alabama colors and logs.

As you can imagine, the Everett's were thrilled will the Alabama themed bandages, which led the staff to think of an even bigger surprise. Since Chattanooga is a tri-state area with a diverse SEC fan base. The staff and Dr. Pilkington changed Ziva's bandages weekly to represent the other schools, like LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida.

David Everett is an SEC supporter, but he was not a fan of the UT bandages.

“I told the staff to take that awful orange off my dog!” said Everett.

Ziva is now recovering in the best way she possibly can. She has finished all of her treatments, and continues to be the sweet and optimistic dog she has always been.
