(Lookouts Media Relations)- Lookouts starting pitcher Jason Wheeler (W, 1-1) threw seven dominate innings in the team's 4-0 shutout victory over the Birmingham Barons in front of 5,674 at AT&T Field Friday night.

Wheeler set the tone early by striking out the first batter he faced.  The southpaw ended the night with nine Ks while only allowing four hits and one walk.  Wheeler's ERA is now down to 1.88 on the year in 24.0 innings pitched.

Chattanooga's offense provided the only run they would need in the third inning when Zach Granite doubled home Engelb Vielma to make it 1-0.  In the seventh inning the team added three insurance runs on a RBI Double by Shannon Wilkerson, a RBI single by Vielma and a RBI single by Travis Harrison.  Up 4-0 reliever Marcus Walden shut the door on the Barons, only allowing one hit in his two innings of relief.

Tyler Danish was the tough-luck loser for Birmingham, only allowing two runs in 6.1 innings.  Tomorrow the two teams are back at it for game two of the series.  The Lookouts send DJ Baxendale (1-2, 3.18) to the mound to face off against White Sox #1 Prospect Carson Fulmer (0-3, 8.53).
