The Volkswagen-sponsored USA Cycling National Championships will move to from Chattanooga to Winston Salem, NC for 2016 and 2017, May 22-30.

According to USA Cycling spokesperson, the change was made so that the championship can be held in conjunction with the Masters Road National Championship and the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic. 

According to the
USA Cycling is partnering with Visit Winston-Salem and the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic to put on the event.

The three groups of races will make up a 9-day event for the North Carolina town.

According to Kevin Loughery, USA Cycling Communications Manager: “Chattanooga has been an excellent host city. We'd all be open to seeing the race in Chattanooga again soon.”

He says the turnout for this year's event was what was expected. Chattanooga is eligible and was “encouraged” to submit a bid again in the future.
