UPDATE: Interstate 24 has re-opened, but drivers can expect some delays as congestion eases and normal traffic flow resumes.

Initial reports from the truck driver are that the truck's brakes overheated, according to a tweet from Chattanooga Fire Department spokesman Bruce Garner.

The driver saw smoke and pulled over, and then apparently the fire spread to the trailer.

A truck fire on Interstate 24 westbound near mile marker 185 has the roadway closed Tuesday morning.

No injuries have been reported, according to Chattanooga police.

The Chattanooga Fire Department is on the scene.

Motorists should seek an alternate route if possible.
