Man wanted in multiple counties captured in Rhea County
A big arrest out of Rhea County.
Deputies say a man wanted in two states and suspected in several cases in our area is behind bars tonight.
One of those cases involves a chase that injured a Rhea County deputy.
William Terry McDaniel is no stranger to the law. He has charges against him in Bradley, Hamilton and Rhea counties as well as Catoosa County, Georgia.
We even found he's no stranger to our archives.
We found a mug shot from 14 years ago when McDaniel was arrested in Cleveland for aggravated assault in connection to a road rage incident.
Tonight, McDaniel sits behind bars without bond.
Investigators tell us he stole an ATV form Sears in Dayton earlier this month and led officers on a chase into Meigs County that resulted in injuries to a Rhea County deputy. That deputy has since recovered but the crash totaled a patrol car.
Investigators say tips helped lead to the arrest.
"This man would steal a dealer plate, put it on a vehicle and off he'd go. So we're glad that he's in custody and several other counties are glad he's in custody," Rhea County Sheriff's Department Investigator Rocky Potter said.
Three stolen vehicles have been recovered since McDaniel's arrest, two of those from Bradley County and one from Hamilton County.
The ATV has also been recovered.
