Ridgeland Football Coach Mark Mariakis announced his retirement Monday morning after 11 years at the school and 30 years as a coach.

Ridgeland Football Coach Mark Mariakis announced his retirement Monday morning after 11 years at the school and 30 years as a coach.
Mariakis survived brain cancer in 2009. He says the reason he's retiring is "It's been 30 years. It's taxing."

Mariakis is only 52. He isn't sure what's next for him, but isn't ruling out coaching.
During his tenure at Ridgeland, Mariakis went 72-51 as head coach from 2004 - 2014.
His last day at Ridgeland is May 15.
