UPDATE: The medical examiner’s autopsy report for the death of 3-year-old Tatiana Emerson reveals that the child had suffered sexual assault and had been beaten severely.

Tatiana died on August 27. Rhasean Lowry, 34, brought the girl to the hospital earlier, saying she fell down a flight of stairs at a hotel on Bonny Oaks Drive.

The bruises and scars on the child’s body indicate that she may have been injured over a length of time.

The cause of death was blunt force injuries of the head and trunk.

Nearly 50 bruises on Tatiana’s body were documented in the report by Hamilton County Medical Examiner James Metcalfe.

The case has been bound over to the grand jury November 20; Lowry remains in custody.

PREVIOUS STORY: Another area child is dead at the hands of suspected child abuse.

Chattanooga police say Rhasean Lowry, 34, brought a 3-year-old girl to the hospital and said she fell down steps.

But doctors point to injuries that tell a different story, advising they were the result of blunt force trauma consistent with being hit multiple times. Doctors said the injuries could not have happened from falling down steps.

Lowry is charged with aggravated child abuse and criminal homicide.

The child died Wednesday, August 27 but Chattanooga police are just now releasing details and confirming the arrest.

Lowry is expected to appear in court Tuesday, September 9.
