A Catoosa County man sits in jail, facing multiple sexual abuse charges involving a young child. The boy's mother wants other parents to know the warning signs.

Channel 3 is not revealing the mother's identity in order to protect the child's identity. She says there were noticeable changes in her son's behavior and when she talked to him about it, she knew she had to contact the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office. After investigating, a 19-year-old man is now behind bars.

The Ringgold mother says she knew right away when something was bothering her 6-year-old son.

"He wasn't my boy anymore. My little boy talked about Jesus all the time and loved everybody and wanted to pray for everybody. He was a sweet little kid. Then all the sudden he started having fits of rage, kicking holes in the wall."

She says then her son reached a breaking point.

"He got very violent toward me. Then he tried to hurt himself."

After being hospitalized, the young boy told his mom he had been molested. She called the sheriff's office. An incident report documents where the boy told detectives he was "touched inappropriately" by 19-year-old Cody Harris, who lives in his father's neighborhood.

"We've always taught him, my husband and I, from day one have told him if anybody hurts or touches him in a way that he doesn't feel comfortable with, to tell us."

She says it has been tough having her son go through medical examines and interviews with detectives.

"To me, he's the bravest person I know. The bravest person I know."

Harris faces multiple felony charges including child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes and attempted aggravated sodomy.

"I hope he spends the rest of his life in jail. I hope he spends the rest of his life in jail. But I do hope that he finds God in that in what he's done. And I hope it haunts him the rest of his life what he did to my son."

Deputies arrested Harris on June 2nd. He also faces additional drug charges and detectives tell the boy's mother even more could be coming.
