Flood threat continues, and more rain on the way
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- Good Monday. After record rainfall this weekend, the flood threat will continue through today as more scattered showers dot the landscape through the afternoon. Get the latest detailed flooding information on Channel 3 Storm Alert Team's main Weather Page.
We saw more than 5" of rain falling over the weekend. We may get another .25"-.50" (some areas west of town may get another inch or more) today as an area of low pressure sits over us through the day.
That low pressure will move south and east this evening, allowing the rain chance to wane.
However, even with that, we can expect mostly cloudy skies and an isolated shower or two Tuesday through Thursday.
Our next weather system will approach the area by Thursday night into Friday, and that means a good chance of rain (wait for it) ...just in time for the weekend!
The best chance of rain with this next system will be all day Friday and Saturday, with some showers lingering into Sunday morning.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel. After the rain clears out Sunday, we should have a period of 4 or 5 rain free days so we can take a breath and dry out.
