CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- A former member of President Obama's election campaign will join a Chattanooga company as Technologist-in-Residence.

Daniel Ryan will join GIGTANK advising startups and specialists on a daily basis, assisting with web development needs as they utilize and create large-scale web applications.

Ryan was formerly  the director of front-end development for President Obama's 2012 election campaign where he oversaw the development of online tools and technology that helped raised $690 million online, recruited hundreds of thousands volunteers and registered more than one million voters.

"As the largest city in the country with gigabit service, Chattanooga has the opportunity to be at the forefront of something," Ryan said. "GIGTANK provides an avenue to push boundaries and to make Chattanooga an example for other cities. I'm truly excited to be a part of it."

GIGTANK is a Chattanooga based accelerator program that connects entrepreneurs with the tools, capital and contacts needed to go to market.
