CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – Fifteen teams showed up to fish the first annual Crappie for Canines Benefit Tournament on Sunday April, 14th at Harrison Bay State Park on Chickamauga Lake.
Overcast skies greeted anglers today, but the smiles on everyone's faces including the dogs were bright.
Winners of this event were Chris Coleman, Wyatt Coleman and Steve Kite. Their 5 fish tournament limit weighted 7.30 lbs. They also had the big fish of the event with a White Crappie that weighed 1.75 pounds..
Wyatt Coleman (age 9) said "We were on some real nice fish last week. I knew if we could get a couple big ones to bite we would have a chance to win."
"All proceeds raised from this event go to benefit the Goodwill Assistance Dog Academy of Chattanooga.
"We raised over $1700.00 that will stay local right here for Jerry, Murphy, Danny, and Topper." said event coordinator Candi Burrows.
