DADE COUNTY, GA. (WRCB) -- Dade County will have a new sheriff.
Tuesday night, voters chose Ray Cross over incumbent Patrick Cannon for the GOP nomination.
Cross was victorious with 55 percent of the votes.
Cannon has served since 2004.
Cross says it's obvious Dade County is ready for new ideas.
"I think tonight proved that they are, and I just want to thank them again so much," Cross says.
Cross will face Democrat Philip Street in November.
Street served as sheriff from 1984 to 2004, before he was defeated by Cannon.
