Chattanooga mayor seeks donations for recall costs
CHATTANOOGA (AP) - Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield is holding a $250-per-person reception to help pay legal costs from his fight against a recall effort.
The Sept. 15 reception at a friend's home is aimed at helping pay more than $50,000 in legal costs.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press reported that Littlefield said in a flier announcing the event that he is not wealthy but feels responsible for making sure the costs are covered. Littlefield is in his second and final term. He contends the recall effort stems from him doing what had to be done when property taxes and storm water fees were increased.
The reception will include the film "Recall Fever" produced by the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
The recall case is pending in a state appeals court.
