HAMILTON COUNTY, TN. (WRCB)— Only five days into the new school year and enrollment numbers in Hamilton County are up for the most part.

Hamilton County Superintendent Rick Smith says enrollment figures are up by almost 500 more students than last year's fifth day.

Middle and elementary schools show a rise in student numbers, while high schools experienced a slight decrease, down nearly 100 students.

Smith says these figures will be used to determine school staffing over the next few days.
