RINGGOLD, GA. (WRCB)-- A Tennessee Valley war hero will be laid to rest Saturday afternoon.

Sergeant Edward Koehler would have entered his 20th year of service in January, but was tragically killed last week in Afghanistan.

Sergeant Koehler and two other members of his convoy lost their lives to a roadside bomb.

Sergeant Koehler was a member of the 131st Transportation Company of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, but lived with his family in Ringgold, Georgia.

The soldier was originally from Lebanon, Pennsylvania. He served as a United States Marine from 1982-1988.

At the age of 47, the fallen soldier leaves behind a wife, Cheryl, and three daughters.

His body was returned to Chattanooga, Thursday. A visitation was held Thursday and Friday night at Heritage Funeral Home on Battlefield Parkway.

Saturday, his funeral is set to begin at 3:00 pm. Following the services, the fallen soldier will be laid to rest at Anderson Memorial Gardens in Ringgold.
