NASHVILLE (WRCB/AP) – According to a person familiar with the agreement, the Tennessee Titans have reached a deal with quarterback Matt Hasselbeck.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been announced. first reported the agreement, which was reached Wednesday morning.

Just yesterday, NBC Seattle reported that Hasselbeck would not re-sign with the Seattle Seahawks.

The 35-year-old Hasselbeck has spent the past 10 years with Seattle, but the Seahawks reached a deal Tuesday with quarterback Tavaris Jackson.

Hasselbeck has been an unrestricted free-agent with the Seahawks since 2001.

The Titans were looking for a veteran quarterback to help mentor rookie Jake Locker, the No. 8 overall draft pick.

NBC Nashville says Hasselbeck is likely the frontrunner for the starting quarterback position with the Titans after the retirement of Kerry Collins and the pending trade or release of Vince Young.
