Driver loses arm in early morning crash
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-- A man loses his arm in an early morning crash on Brainerd Road.
Chattanooga Police Spokesperson Jerri Weary says the accident occurred around the 3400 block, Sunday.
Weary says a Ford Crown Victoria was reportedly traveling east at a high rate of speed when the driver crossed the center lane and hit the trailer of a semi.
The driver of the car lost his arm and the passenger received major lacerations to the face. Both men were taken to Erlanger where they are listed in critical but stable condition.
The driver of the tractor-trailer escaped uninjured.
Weary says the cause is still under investigation, but it is believed speed and alcohol were contributing factors.
