CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)- A Chattanooga police officer is being credited with a new design for the city's police cars.  Here is the release from Sgt. Jerri Weary:

The Chattanooga Police Department unveiled the new design for department patrol units Monday and presented the first one to its designer. Officer Mirza Muretchajic came up with the design two years ago after his visiting family members compared the old design to a cab decal.

Muretchajic worked in graphics design prior to his career in law enforcement and was able to incorporate several aspects of the Chattanooga Police Department mission as well as the creed of fire and police. Most importantly he included the CPD badge which has been missing from the design for the last 18 years.

The design will be phased in over the next year or so as old cars are replaced with newer models. There are roughly 280 units that will receive the new design.
