CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - The newest addition to the Warner Park pool opened Friday, after a year and half from conception to grand opening.  Plenty of kids were out splashing in the brand new 'Spray & Play' park.

Thanks to grant money the city received, the new addition to Warner Park is now up and running.  Parents say it's a great way to bring the community together.

"There's a bunch of different activities that he can do," says mom Alyson Phillips.  "We just don't have anything around here like this," she said.

It's every kid's dream.  Water, sun and open ground to splash around.

"This is probably one of the nicest spray parks in Tennessee," says Ross Kette with Rain Drop Products.

Kette partnered with the city to help build Warner Parks new 'Spray & Play' addition.

"It's a larger than typical spray park," he says.  "The layout is great."

The city obtained the money to built the park through a state grant. The spray park will be open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, like their pool.

"Something different than just swimming," Phillips says.

For moms with young children like Alyson, it means independence for 4-year-old Caleb.

"He can go on his own and not have to be right with me," the mom says.  "Just play and have a good time."

For the people who worked hard to make the park a reality it's a chance to bring the community together.

"These water parks weave the social fabric of the community," Kette says.  "You get a big diversity of people.  It doesn't matter what social background you come from."
