School officials force a lock down at Brainerd High School after finding a student with a handgun in his backpack.

The gun was unloaded, but that's apparently what prompted the school resource officer to get the Chattanooga Police Department's K-9 unit involved..  Dogs searched students and classrooms.  Some parents were alarmed by the dozen or so marked cars outside the school. One mother tried to pick up her daughter for a doctor's appointment but she says she was told her daughter couldn't leave.

Ivonya Douglas tells Eyewitness News, " It really concerns me it's scary all these childrens in this building and don't know why they're on lock down, somebody should be able to tell me something, something."

The student with the handgun was transported to the juvenile detention center.  Three others with knives and brass knuckles were released to the their parents.  Investigators have not determined if this could be spill over from the Friday night fight at the Brainerd-Tyner basketball game.
