Salvation Army Gets Early Christmas Gift

Posted: Updated:
An anonymous donor made the holiday season a brighter one for the Salvation Army. Someone dropped 43 hundred dollar bills into the kettle at the Ft. Oglethorpe Walmart on Battlefield Parkway.

Deanna LaFerry, Salvation Army Administrative Assistant, found in her kettle several bundles of one hundred dollar bills.  "I saw the first bundle and was so excited!  Then another and then another.  I yelled at everyone, 'look what I have in my kettle'," stated Laferry, "I wish I knew who donated this so I could say thank you and let them know how much of a blessing they are to those in need."

Kettle donations go to help those in need of assistance during the holidays and into the new year.  This year's goal is $300,000.00 for Chattanooga and Cleveland.

Donations are still needed.  They can can be made through the red kettles, on-line at, or mailed to 800 McCallie Avenue, Chattanooga, TN, 37403.
