It was a busy day on UTC's campus Friday, but the return of Rusty Wright has many fans of the football program excited for the future.

A former Mocs football player and two-time assistant coach, Wright was introduced as the new head coach of the Mocs at a press conference on campus Friday evening.

He's spent the last two seasons as the linebackers coach and special teams coordinator for Georgia State. The hire was announced by the university on Wednesday.

Wright takes over a program that hasn't been to the FCS playoffs since 2016. The Mocs also finished last in scoring in the Southern Conference along with yards per game.

More details on Wright's staff will be coming in the next few weeks as soon as he determines who will join him in Chattanooga.
