PREVIOUS STORY: Police have a suspect in connection to an armed robbery off of Hixson Pike at the Smokin Joe's cigarette shop.

On Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at approximately 8:30 am, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to 8703 Hixson Pike at Smoking Joes on a report of an armed robbery. Upon law enforcement arriving, the suspects had fled.

Smoking Joe’s clerk reports that a white male entered the store with a toboggan pulled over his face, holding a gun and demanding cash.

Another white male, who is believed to be an accomplice, waited outside in a getaway vehicle.

The manager, Marsha Nixon, says the clerk was still shaken but is now with family.

"It's unsettling... This is a nice community you know usually everybody comes together so for something like that to happen here to where everybody has been so good since we opened... It's very unnerving," said Nixon.

Nixon says that moving forward, the store will work on more security features so that all employees feel safe at the store.

An undisclosed amount of money was taken, and the suspects fled in a small black/red vehicle.

No one was injured during this incident.

Anyone having information about this incident is asked to call the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office at 423-209-8940.
