SODDY-DAISY, Tn. - The Soddy-Daisy Trojans ended a 22-year region title drought and earned the right to host a home playoff game for the first time since 2010.

Their opponent, the 4-6 Clinton Dragons, making a two-hour drive to Soddy.

Both teams exchanged scores in the 1st quarter, but the Trojans would get hot. KeSean Eubanks took a kick back for a TD. Then Hayden Maynor would score for Soddy-Daisy, followed by a Garrett Richardson touchdown to open up a 28-7 lead in the 2nd quarter.

The Dragons would cut that lead to 15 by the end of the half, but Soddy-Daisy would not be denied.

Another Maynor TD followed by Richardson's third would do the trick. For the first time in 8 years, the Soddy-Daisy Trojans advance past the first-round of the TSSAA playoffs with a 42-19 win over Clinton.

The Trojans will host their second-round game as well when the Oak Ridge Wildcats come to town next Friday at 7 p.m.
