Michigan Avenue kindergarten teacher wins $10K grant for technology
A popular teacher at Michigan Avenue Elementary School in Bradley County has won a big prize from Rack Room shoes, that will benefit the school. The winning teacher says it's all about the students.
Kindergarten teacher Jessica Morgan was nominated by a co-worker for Rack Room's Real Teacher of the Year. She was described as a teacher who makes a positive difference in the lives of her students. As one of five national winners in online voting, she wins a $10,000 computer lab grant for the school.
The money will be used at the school's discretion to upgrade technology and enhance learning. Morgan says she's thrilled that the financial award, in her honor, will go to the school she loves.
As an added bonus, Morgan will also receive free Shoes for a year, entitling her to a new pair of shoes for 12 consecutive months. She's already making room for them.
Principal Robbie Winters said of Morgan, "She gets it. Her students love her, and they thrive. I'm proud of her, as I am all of our teachers."
