UPDATE: Body of missing Dalton man found
UPDATE: The body of a missing Dalton has been found.
The Dalton Police Department said Steven Black's body was found Friday in his truck near Carbondale Road in Whitfield County.
Foul play is not suspected.
PREVIOUS STORY: This weekend, friends and family will search for a Dalton man who disappeared a week ago. They're desperate to bring 70-year-old Steve Black home.
Police told Channel 3 a handful of tips have come in, but none have panned out so far. Family members are passing out flyers in hopes that someone has seen Black.
"Please call us. Please reach out to us. If you can do that, just please do it because we love you and want you back,” Mary Black, his wife, said.
Wiping away tears from her face, Mary Black hopes this message reaches her husband, Steve.
He told his wife a week ago he was going to make a delivery more than 200 miles away in Tifton for his flooring business.
Calls and text messages later that day went unanswered.
"It's not like him. This is not like him. He would not put us through this,” Black said.
She reported him missing to the Dalton Police Department. Since that report, state and national resources have been called in to help.
Bruce Frazier with the Dalton Police Department said that's not unusual for a case like this.
"There are a number of resources that are out there from databases and things like that. Not just the GBI, but the FBI is involved in this case,” Frazier said.
As police work their side of the case, family and friends are planning to search the entire county for any clues. That includes finding Steve's phone and 1993 white Ford pickup truck.
They're asking everyone to be on the lookout for him.
"Somebody out there knows something. Somebody has to,” Stephanie Clinger, Black’s daughter, said.
The family's goal is to bring him home. Until that happens, they say the outpouring of support from the community is helping them get through each day.
"We're very grateful for each person that's reached out in any way. We're really thankful,” Clinger said.
Police do not suspect foul play at this time.
Family members told them Black has no medical conditions that require medication or affect his memory.
The last time anyone saw him, he was wearing blue jeans and a peach-colored polo.
