The McMinn County School Board has selected a new director of schools, and they promoted from within.

Lee Parkison, the school district's Student Management Supervisor, was approved by a vote of 7-1.

He was one of four top candidates for the position.

The position was opened after Mickey Blevins announced his retirement earlier this year, after 35 years in education and six as director.

Blevins says Parkison is a man of integrity, who will do great work.

Parkison's term will officially begin Jan. 1, 2019.
