One man is dead and another is in custody after a Saturday night shooting in Sequatchie County.

Sequatchie County Sheriff Coy Swanger said the shooting happened a little after 10:00 pm CST in the 5300 block of Henson Gap Road.

The victim, 21-year-old Logan Lepard, was leaving a home on the road when he was shot in the street by 21-year-old Paul Coffman, Jr., Sheriff Swanger explained.

Lepard was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Sheriff Swanger said the Lepard and Coffman knew each other, but he is not sure how well.

Investigators discovered that Coffman had fired several rounds from a 9mm handgun striking the victim.

Coffman has been arrested and has been charged with criminal homicide. He was taken to the Sequatchie County Jail where he is being held without bond.

He will go before a judge for an arraignment within the next few days. A grand jury will then decide on formal charges.

Coffman's first initial court date is scheduled for September 21.
